Types of welding cracks and preventive measures

Welding cracks can be classified according to their location, size, cause and mechanism. According to the conditions of crack formation, it can be divided into four categories: hot crack, cold crack, reheat crack and lamellar tearing. According to the weld cracking at the welding site, most of them are caused by stress, restraint and rigidity. It can be said that stress, restraint and rigidity are often the main factors for weld cracking. The effective way to solve the weld cracking caused by stress, restraint and rigidity is to adopt fixed welding and dispersed welding. The so-called fixed welding: first, all the welds of the weldment or the welds of important parts shall be fixed by small current, narrow weld bead and short distance off welding. In this way, the weldment is not easy to generate large stress. Even if it is fixed at all parts of the weldment, it is not allowed to move forward in sequence at the same position, and it is not allowed to adopt large current and large specification welding rod. The welding position shall be changed to avoid excessive heat at local position. Binding force and rigid structure can be solved in the same way. The so-called distributed welding, for large structures, it is absolutely not allowed to weld in the same position in sequence, and the position should be changed for welding.
